“Archiving Voices and Expressions” at Gurusaday Museum

Kolkata, March 28: Environmental Art and Chander Haat organized an exhibition of art in Gurusaday Museum at Joka Bratachari Gram. Gurusaday Dutta, the founder of Bengal Bratachari Society also planned of this Bratachari Gram. In the museum, there is an archive of folk and contemporary arts. This time curator Probir Gupta projected an exhibition, “Archiving Voices and Expressions”. So many artists from folk segment to contemporary thinker invested their imagination to make the project a success. Apart of Probir Babu, the artists like Bhabatosh Sutar; Aloke Shome was also a part of it. Gita Karmakar, China Paul, Gurupada Sarkar, Mahamaya Sikdar, Kashmiran Tahir, ‘Potua’ Bapi Chitrakar, Tarun Dey along with foreigners Tarje Eikanger Gullaksen and Martijn de Rooj also have been contributed their artworks in the exhibition. “We are trying hard to empower of the folk and tribal artists of Bengal that’s why we are doing this and we also are experimenting to have a fusion of folk and contemporary arts”, said curator Probir Gupta.
